Children play jump rope near the street after the war, Vietnam. I walk through this city again for the first time in nearly two years and find that, God help them, after all this period of torment, the people will go on. Three million of them, or more. Some good. Some bad. Some unclassifiable. Crammed in, around and on top of each other in 21 square miles of squalor. Noisy, angry, silent, happy, passive, violent.
