1963 Press Photo Delta rocket propels Tiros 8 weather satellite into orbit

Three-stage Delta rocket vaults from its launching pad today to propel Tiros 8 weather satellite into orbit about the earth. Satellite is the first in the Tiros family equipped with new Automatic Picture Transmissions (APT) system designed to deliver instant pictures of cloud cover and store patterns to ground stations around the world.
