1960 Press Photo Missouri's Dave Bumgardner works his 80-acre farm with oxen

Agriculture may have gone modern, but there's at least one farm in the United States that still uses oxen to cultivate the land. At the drag plow, Dave Bumgardner works a pair of Angus bulls he raised himself on his 8o-acre farm in the backwoods of the Ozark foothills, near Lebanon, Missouri. Bumgardner, 47, says he still used the oxen because he doesn't like horses and can't afford modern farm machinery.
