1960 Press Photo Former Montgomery County Sheriff King and others arrested

Former Montgomery County Sheriff, Lawrence King, 51, left, has been arrested along with Alec Morris, 49, center, and Pink Townsend, 25, right, for questioning in the slaying of Deputy Sheriff William Kelly. Officers said King has admitted he had a part in the slaying. Mrs. Minnie Lee Kelly, widow of the slain officer, was arrested today but was cleared and released officers said. Highway Patrol investigator Owin Cole said it appeared to be a paid killing involving a love triangle.
