The president-elect of the American Psychiatric Association Monday termed the Lafayette Mental Health Day Center at Lafayette, Louisiana, "the best day treatment center for mental patients in the United States." Dr. Daniel Blain, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania said he is a strong advocate of such day centers. The physician said most mental patients do not need round-the-clock hospital care; that the majority can be treated in a mental hospital for a few days, then receive follow-up treatment at a day center.
