Offshore Oil Rig Ablaze in Gulf South of Buras. A gas well Explosion set an offshore rig ablaze in the Gulf of Mexico early today, leaving two men known dead, two others believed drowned and three men still missing. At Least 12 others were injured. The fire, which roared through the rig after an explosion about 7 a.m., was still burning seven hours later, after the inured rig workers had been evacuated by helicopters.
