1960 Press Photo Dome of State House View From Custom House Tower Charles River

The gilded dome of the State House dominates this view looking from the Custom House Tower towards the Charles River. During the last war, the dome was painted a flat grey to prevent it from shining as a landmark for possible enemy planes.
