1955 Press Photo Rescuers carry a victim's body out of the crashed Italian plane

Black smoke billows up from a burning pier as firemen carry the body of a victim of the crash of an Italian Airlines plane. The DC-CB passenger plane with 32 persons aboard, crashed in Jamaica Bay near Idlewild Airport, 12/18. There were five known survivors.
