1957 Press Photo Tool Maker Kill Marine Sergent Attempting to Rape His Companion

A 34-year-old tool maker Wayne E. Gilbert shot and killed a Marine Sergent, Ralph Charles Luloff, 23. Gilbert told San Diego police the Marine was attempting to rape his woman companion, a mother of 5 children. Gilbert had wrestled gun away from Luloff. Coroner A.E. Gallagher said shooting was justifiable.
